TEAM Works Adventure Specialist

General Function
Under the general direction of the Team Works Program Director, the Adventure Specialist will facilitate leadership related programs held at Trout Lodge and our offsite experiences to guests of the YMCA of the Ozarks Trout Lodge & Camp Lakewood while exemplifying the Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Duties will include running our recreational climbing activities on various elements such as the Alpine Tower, climbing wall, high ropes course, various zip lines, and the giant swing. The Adventure Specialist will also have the opportunity to assist in facilitation of teambuilding and outdoor education programs. The Adventure Specialist will work to deliver high quality programs for all of our groups and guests and any responsibility deemed necessary to assure that the guests have a quality and exciting experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate leadership, teambuilding programs, and climbing experiences at Trout Lodge, Camp Lakewood, and occasionally offsite at other locations.
2. Responsible for programming in all areas pertaining to facilitation of climbs or teambuilding, and any other responsibilities deemed necessary in assuring that the guests are provided with a quality experience.
3. Assist with Trout Lodge or Camp Lakewood programming when necessary.
4. Supports marketing efforts in cooperation with the Director of Marketing to promote program participation and the use of the YMCA of the Ozarks by new conference, day, and specialty groups.
5. Attend and contribute to weekly program meetings.
6. Assist in welcoming guests to any leadership or climbing experience, both at Trout Lodge and offsite programming.
7. Assist in having all staff and equipment ready for recreational climbs.
8. Assist in having resources ready for teambuilding activities.
9. Follow all staff policies and procedures.
10. Assist in maintenance of equipment, climbing elements, and low ropes courses.
11. Maintain a positive working relationship with all office personnel and other program staff at the YMCA.
12. Maintain a clean living environment within assigned staff housing.
13. Uphold a positive can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and as a part of the team.
14. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
15. Responsible for accomplishing any other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the Director of TEAM Works, TEAM Works Program Director, Assistant Program Director, or any other Director at the YMCA of the Ozarks.
Skills and Requirements
1. YMCA of the Ozarks will be considered to have the Mid-West’s premier team, ropes and leadership program, particularly with corporate and family teambuilding.
2. All programs and staff will reflect the philosophical goals of the YMCA of the Ozarks.
3. Every guest that experiences a TEAM Works program, climb, or otherwise is to leave the experience better than before they encountered the TEAM Works Department.
Education:
This position requires previous experience in a resort or camp setting, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience:
TEAM Works Adventure Specialists must bring to this position an appropriate background of education or experience, which enables him/her to carry out the job segments listed for the position. Familiarity with rock climbing or high ropes courses and knowledge of safe belay techniques is preferred. Must possess maturity, good judgment, good public relations and problem solving skills. Must be flexible according to program needs, client’s requests, and direction from supervisors. Must be able to work with the wide range of people who make up the YMCA of the Ozarks constituencies… all ages and races, and be skilled in experiential education pertaining to work with guests in a professional manner. Must be able to learn and/or possess the skill of how to facilitate a climbing/teambuilding experience
Special skills, Licenses, Certifications or Equipment:
The ability to plan, execute, follow-up, and evaluate programs.

Salary:
$45/Day + Meals & Housing
